S1-E1 Tending to our Medicines: Medicine Walk (Waȟčhíŋca Wahpá) Spr 2023

Waȟčhíŋca Wahpá

This Medicine Walk episode of Tending to our Medicines is a spring walk along the Waȟčhíŋca Wahpá (Poplar River) on Fort Peck.

Natural soundscapes are all of the sounds that a person would hear while in nature. We know that taking a walk in nature is good for our wellbeing, but it's also true that even hearing the sounds of nature will bring our heart rates down, bring our breathing back to our more natural rhythm, and reduce levels of stress.

If you're unable, for whatever reason, to make it outside for a walk in nature, you can listen to this episode while you are working on something else, while you take a walk in a place that has less natural sounds than normal (such as a city or in town, or on a treadmill), or listen while you are sitting and doing nothing else to help practice clearing your mind at the end of the day, or at the beginning to help you start your day focused! Natural soundscapes are a great addition to any part of your day.

This episode of the Tending to our Medicines mini-pod series is brought to you as a collaboration between the FPCC Buffalo Chaser Podcast and Traditional Practices for Wellness (TPWIC) Project.
